This workshop equips parents with the knowledge and confidence to recognize and respond to self-injurious behaviors such as cutting in children and adolescents. Participants will gain a clear understanding of why youth engage in self-harm, how it differs from suicidal intent, and the emotional and trauma-related factors that often drive these behaviors.
Parents will learn practical strategies for responding with calm, compassion, and structure—rather than panic, shame, or punishment—while strengthening communication and emotional safety within the home. The session also provides guidance on warning signs, when to seek professional help, and how to support healthy coping and regulation.
Grounded in trauma-informed and culturally responsive practice, this workshop empowers parents to move from fear to informed, confident support.
